We hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July festivities. The fireworks may be over but the fun is just beginning. The City scheduled many fun Basking Ridge summer events for the entire family. Wanna know the best part (besides spending time with your family)? All events come free of charge. The only problem you might have is finding the time to fit it all in!
Basking Ridge Summer Events 2019
Summer Concert Series
Every Tuesday evening in July, the City hosts a live concert at Pleasant Valley Park. At 7 pm, talented musicians and singers display their talents to the public. Each week offers up a new act to enjoy. Definitely bring a lawn chair and/or blanket. Make it a fun weeknight date night by also filling up your picnic basket for dinner and a show. Just make sure to clean up after yourself.
- July 9th – Sounds of the Street (Oldies/Doo Wop)
- July 16th – No Standards (All the hits from the 80’s to today)
- July 23rd – Refugee (Tom Petty Tribute Band)
- July 30th – Beatlemania Again (tentative rain date of Aug 13th)
Summer Movie Nights
On Wednesdays, we watch movies. Even better? We watch movies under the stars. At dusk (around 8:30 pm) in July, visit Dunham Park for a different family-friendly movie. Bring a flashlight and blanket or lawn chair with you. To kick off the summer fun, come early (6:30 pm) for games, prizes, and a DJ before the movie starts.
- July 10th – Ralph Breaks the Internet
- July 17th – Willie Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (1971)
- July 24th – Incredibles 2
- July 31st – Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
Plays in the Park
More Basking Ridge summer events that the whole family can enjoy include plays in the park at the Pleasant Valley Park Amphitheater. Local actors perform William Shakespeare and Lerner & Lowe’s classic to an eager audience. In July, watch The Comedy of Errors (July 11th-13th & July 18th-20th). In August, enjoy the musical Brigadoon performed live (August 1st-3rd & August 8th-10th). Both plays start at 8 pm. Bring your lawn chair or blanket (for comfort) and a flashlight (for convenience).
Remember, the Pleasant Valley public pool stays open until September 2nd. They offer swim classes for all ages and skill levels. They also offer other fun activities, including yoga classes, bocce ball, and volleyball. Visit the Bernard’s Township’s Parks & Rec website for pool hours and membership information. You’ll never hear “I’m bored” this summer with all of these activities going on!
