Basking Ridge Christmas Tree Lighting & Winter Market 2018

The first Saturday of December also happens to be the first day of the month. And that’s when the Basking Ridge Christmas Tree Lighting and Winter Market 2018 takes place. Starting at noon, Bishop Janes Methodist Church on Finley hosts the winter market. Twenty vendors set up goods to sell for this holiday season. If you haven’t finished getting gifts for those on your Christmas list yet, check out the one-of-a-kind items offered at the winter market. You can also pick up your Christmas tree or decorative wreath at the market if you’d like. Money raised from tree and wreath sales goes to missions all around the world.
Throughout the afternoon, several different performers entertain the gathering crowd. They include the Oak Street School Singers (4th and 5th graders), a reading of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, selections of The Nutcracker performed by Gotta Dance, and William Annin Middle School’s very own rock band The Batz. The Brick Academy offers a free ornament class. Kids decorate Christmas ornaments to take home with them. All participants also receive a special coloring book documenting the history of Somerset Hills.
Santa rides in at 5:30 pm, just in time to light up the Christmas tree. He’ll be available for photos afterward. Bring your own camera for this amazing photo op. If you dress up nicely, this would make a great Christmas card! The market closes up at 7 pm. That’s also when Santa heads back to the North Pole. He’s very busy, you know.
From our family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!
