April 15th seems like such a long time from now. But it really isn’t. Each year, members of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA) help seniors with their tax return paperwork. Right now, Basking Ridge tax prep volunteers are needed. Would you be interested in assisting your neighbors with their returns this year?
Basking Ridge Tax Prep Volunteers Needed
Let’s face it. Filing taxes isn’t fun. Sometimes, the paperwork feels daunting. Confusion quickly sets in. Not everyone can afford to hire professionals. The Bernards Township Library asks Basking Ridge tax prep volunteers to contact them as soon as possible. You don’t have to be a CPA to participate. Prepared your own taxes in the past? Feel free to volunteer for the Basking Ridge VITA program.
Basking Ridge tax prep volunteers receive training on both tax laws and preparation. Volunteers utilize tax prep software to assist with the tax return process. Who can take advantage of this free service? Senior citizens and residents with household incomes of under $60,000. It’s also a wonderful opportunity for CPAs and commercial tax preparers to receive continuing education credits. These con ed credits are a requirement for their certification.
Interested in becoming one of this year’s Basking Ridge tax prep volunteers? Contact the library at (908) 204-3031 ext 2. You may also email Joe Ryder for more information. Thank you for your help.
